Review of Body of Evidence

Title:Body of Evidence
Author:Patricia Cornwell
Piblisher:Avon Books
ISBN:0380717018

This is the fourth Kay Scarpetta novel by Patricia Cornwell. Kay is a strong and unforgettable character. You can both love and hate her at the same time. She has considerable compassion for the dead and is always determined to find their killers and bring them to justice. On a personal level, she has much less control. On the one hand, she is loving and caring; on another, she can be over-bearing.

In this episode, Kay is forced to deal with a deranged killer who stalks and murders a noted novelist and then appears to be working back through people from her past. Will Kay be his next victim? In addition to finding the murderer, Kay has to come to terms with someone from her own past. Can she trust him again or is there too much baggage?

Cornwell takes the reader on a ride from the beginning to the end. I couldn't put the book down because I wanted to know what would happen next. The storyline moves smoothly and quickly to the suspenseful conclusion.

If you are fond of murder mysteries or even if you are not, I highly recommend this book. Cornwell has never let me down yet.She takes you on an unforgettable journey through the mind of a killer and makes you believe that justice will prevail. I give this book a four  out of five stars.

Comments on Magic by Tami Hoag

Title:Magic
Author:Tami Hoag
Publisher:Bantam Books
ISBN: 0553290533

A little bit of magic, mystery and romance make up this read of Tami Hoag. She never disappoints me with her books. Strange things happen in the Drake House. Roses appear on pillows and old fashion dresses seem to appear in thin air.

Rachel Linquist returns home after  a five year absence to care for her elderly mother. The problem is she finds herself chasing a ghost . Her mother has hired a parapsychologist to find the ghost; but Rachel is skeptical of Bryan, as well as, the ghost. Rachel cannot believe in what she can't see.

Bryan is determined to prove the existence of the ghost and to win Rachel over in the process. Unfortunately, a dark force is trying to drive them from Drake House.

If you are into ghosts, magic and love, this a good read for you. The story is cute, funny and far from your sappy romance. Rachel is a strong independent woman. Bryan is intellectual and a little dorky. The two make an interesting combination.

Review of The Door Within

                    Title: The Door Within
                    Author: Wayne Thomas Batson
                    Publisher: Thomas Nelson Publishers
                    ISBN: 1-4003-0659-0

Three ancient scrolls beckon Aidan into another world where knights, kings, creatures and glimpses live and can travel between worlds. Aidan is trained as the Twelfth Knight of an elite group and joins Alleble to take on the evil Paragory. With the fate of two worlds hanging in the balance, Aidan must decide if he will follow the one true king.

There are probably several main characters in this story; but my favorites are Aidan and Gwenne. These two become fast friends; but a special bond develops  between the two. I can almost see a childhood crush developing. Gweene teaches Aidan about different things that are encountered in her world and Aidan becomes a hero of sorts in this new world he ventures into. Along the way, he has to decide between right and wrong and the principals that he will follow.

The main body of the book was my favorite because the majority of the adventure is centered there. I found the beginning just a little slow; but I was  anxious to get to the meat of the story. The storyline flows nicely and never leaves you hanging.

This book was of special interest to me because one of our local middle school teachers wrote the book. It is probably targeted to the eight to thirteen year old age group; but I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys adventure and fantasy of any kind.

The adventure began with The Door Within and will continue with The Rise of the Wyrm Lord.

Welcome

Hello. If you are visiting, you must enjoy reading. I started this blog because I have a passion for reading and have ever since I was a child. One can never say their life is boring if they allow themselves to read. In reading we can visit the magical and the mystical, enchanting, and the romantic to name but a few. Many of the books that I will review or make comments about will be older. Some will be newer. No matter what your fancy, I hope you will join me on one or more of my many adventures. In the process, I hope you will discover some adventures of your own.
