Review of Kiss Me Annabel

Kiss Me, Annabel (Essex Sisters #2)
Kiss Me Annabel
Eloisa James
Avon Books 2005
ISBN 0060732105

Miss Annabel Essex has rules of marriage that she is determined to follow. First and foremost, a husband must be rich. He really must be an Englishman because London is where civilized people live and besides, she has a passion for nice things and means to have them. The man must be intelligent and really should be handsome; but that is not essential. She has found just the man. Unfortunately he only has his good looks, brain and his delicious kisses. The Scottish Earl of Ardmore is impoverished. At least, that is what she assumes.
How can fate be so cruel as to put her in his carriage to Scotland and everyone thinking they are man and wife. The Earl starts  a game of words with the lovely Miss Annabel with the prize being a kiss. A forfeit is .........Well, they are almost married . Aren't they? Will she settle for less or will she let her heart lead  her to what she truly desires?
Eloisa James writes the most delicious historical fiction. The story gives the reader a nice blend of romance, spice and humour. She captures the readers heart and takes them on a journey that they will not soon forget. There is a charm about this story that makes you want to fall in love all over again. If you enjoy historical fiction, this is a must read. I highly recommend this book and give it 4 out of 5 stars.
